In Romania, I'm going through a book with some students who want to practice their English. In the process, we're learning about the ideas that influence our beliefs. The book is called "The Secret Battle of Ideas About God" by Jeff Myers, and you can visit the book's website here. If you click on the question to the right, you'll be able to take the same short "Worldview Checkup" quiz* we're taking, and get immediate results on the differing worldviews** that have influenced your thinking/worldview. Afterward, you will also have the option of viewing some materials that Jeff Myers and Summit Ministries provide that will allow you to further study the affects certain worldviews have on our choices, decisions, and beliefs. I have included some resources from that list below. If there are others you like, share them below! | What do my beliefs say about how I view the world? |
How would you answer the following questions?
Think about the conflicts you're facing with various people in your life right now. What underlying beliefs can you see that are influencing your relationship?
Coming to grips with the answer to that question could spark a new period of growth for you, and even work to restore those stretched relationships!
Comment below and let's work together as a community to understand each other more openly, appreciate our differences, and get a little closer to what is true!

* Because I'm the kind of guy that sees things differently, I took the quiz twice and answered a couple questions differently. I still received the same results so I can assume the questions are not staunchly developed to always yield different results. Briefly, the answers are not meant to provide a right or wrong value judgment so much as an eyeglass to see how your beliefs are composed.
** The worldview perspectives predominantly addressed in Myers' book are these: Christian, Postmodern, New Spiritual, Islamic, Secular, and Marxist. After reading the book entirely, I believe other religious, economic, social, philosophical, and physiological worldviews contribute to our overall worldview. By no means are we automatons or easily classifiable. We can't be separated into four or five distinct groups without significant overlap. We are, every one of us, a mixture of different thoughts and beliefs, but all of those beliefs come from the very same places for all of us. For obvious reasons, Myers writes from a Christian perspective and limits his efforts to the perspectives addressed in the book. Comment below with your thoughts!
